The investigation into the murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan is being conducted by Shamli Police, who have come across a video purportedly linked to one of the four suspects involved in the shooting. This video, attributed to one of the alleged gunmen named Satyam, contains threats against two additional individuals.
According to authorities, the video was initially posted from an overseas location under Satyam’s name. Shamli Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh stated that the cyber department is currently working to gather more information regarding the video circulating on social media. He also mentioned that security measures have been enhanced at Baliyan’s home in Muzaffarnagar.
Two of the accused, Satyam and another named Aryan, remain at large. Both individuals hail from Karnal, Haryana, and are reportedly affiliated with the Jitender Gogi gang. Law enforcement officials have placed a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to their capture.
Additionally, two other suspects connected to the Baliyan case were killed in a police encounter last week.
Baliyan reportedly attracted the attention of the Gogi gang after he featured in the song titled ‘Bhari court mein goli marenge meri jaan’. Police believe the lyrics of this song were perceived as a taunt towards the killing of Jitender Gogi, who was shot dead in a Delhi courtroom in 2021 by his rival, Tillu Tajpuriya. Furthermore, authorities allege that Baliyan collaborated with the Tillu gang in the release of the song.
Singh indicated that the involvement of two additional inmates in connection with Baliyan’s murder is also being investigated. These suspects, Rohit Rana (also known as Rohit Moi) and Rakesh (alias Pampu), are currently incarcerated, one in Tihar Jail and the other in Karnal Jail, respectively.
Police have stated that these individuals are believed to be orchestrating gang activities while incarcerated and are suspected of collaborating with gangster Rahul to carry out Baliyan’s assassination.
An official reported that Shamli Police have secured Rakesh’s production remand from the local court and are expected to transport him to Uttar Pradesh for further interrogation.
In correspondence sent via his attorney to the Shamli and Karnal police, as well as the Haryana Director General of Prisons, Rakesh has requested enhanced security measures should he be taken into custody by the UP Police. He specifically asked for handcuffs and leg shackles to be used during transit.
In his letter, Rakesh emphasized the need for his safety to be ensured in accordance with legal standards and existing High Court directives. He requested that his entire journey, from departure to return, be documented through continuous video recording wherever legally allowed, and that the transport vehicle be accompanied by armed police personnel.
A senior police officer confirmed receipt of Rakesh’s letter, stating that it is currently under review. Additionally, police will soon seek a court warrant to interrogate Rohit Moi.
