A couple known for their online content, operating under the name “theolivetreefamily,” recently evaluated one of Dyson’s most unique products, leading to a candid review that has generated both amusement and intrigue across social media.
The duo tested Dyson’s innovative smart toothbrush, priced at $499.99 (around Rs 47,000), which features an integrated camera, a light source, and AI-driven flossing technology. Their demonstration video, showcasing the toothbrush’s functionalities, has prompted a wave of reactions including laughter, skepticism, and curiosity from viewers.
“Is the new Dyson CameraJet toothbrush worth it?” is the caption that introduces their video. The footage opens with the couple attempting to decipher the device’s unconventional design before demonstrating its use.
The toothbrush’s embedded camera allows users to see a real-time view of their mouth while brushing. In the video, the couple activates the camera, trying to maneuver the brush while observing the live feed on their screen.
They also highlight the charging station, which serves a dual purpose as a water reservoir for the toothbrush’s flossing feature. Additionally, the package includes a specially formulated toothpaste that minimizes foam, as excessive lather could obstruct the camera’s line of sight.
After thoroughly testing the toothbrush, the man remarks, “It felt like quite an ordeal.” He shares his opinion about the camera, stating, “The quality is not great; I couldn’t see much.” Nevertheless, he adds, “My teeth do feel exceptionally clean.”
The couple then addresses a question that many viewers likely had: “Is it worth the price?” Their collective response is a resounding, “probably not,” while shaking their heads in agreement.
Reactions to the review poured in quickly, with many users commending the couple for trying the unconventional gadget so others could gain insight without the investment.
“You really took one for the team with this review,” commented one user.
A dentist chimed in, “Thank you for your service! I wanted to see what all the buzz was about.”
Another viewer shared their disbelief, stating, “This was too funny! Other toothbrushes have lasted us years without any changes, so I’m surprised people would buy into this!”
Conversely, some viewers expressed discomfort at the notion of having a camera inside their mouths. One user wrote, “No, I don’t want a camera in my mouth for AI to collect my data… they can identify people based on their teeth, so no way.”
Additionally, some speculated whether the couple was compensated by Dyson for the promotion of the product. The creators addressed these suspicions directly.
“This is not a paid advertisement or a gift; we purchased this unit at full price from Curry’s. Stay tuned until the end for proof of purchase if you doubt us! We hope this video generates enough revenue to cover its cost—also, if Dyson is watching, perhaps next time?” the Chung family clarified.
According to Dyson, this toothbrush is described as “the only one with a camera and jet feature designed to target gaps and eliminate plaque between teeth.” The company characterizes it as “a camera-enabled, gap-finding, jet-washing, liquid-flossing, mouthwash-dispensing, technique-teaching, live-streaming, plaque-busting, precision-cleaning toothbrush. That’s the whole package.”
