Citrus Leisure PLC has officially named Nirekshe Perera as the Group Chief Executive Officer – Designate, with the appointment taking effect on September 1, 2026.

Nirekshe brings a wealth of experience to the role, boasting over 25 years in the hospitality sector. His extensive background includes leadership positions in luxury hotels, integrated leisure facilities, large-scale MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) operations, and customer relationship management in banking. He has held significant roles at various esteemed local and international hospitality organizations, including Monarch Imperial, Shangri-La Hotel Colombo, Waters Edge Limited, and Hilton Colombo Residences. Throughout his career, he has engaged with a wide range of customer demographics, acquiring valuable expertise in events, sales and marketing, strategic partnerships, and hospitality management.

Samantha Ranatunga, Chairman of Citrus Leisure PLC, commented on Nirekshe’s appointment, stating, “Nirekshe joins Citrus at a pivotal moment for both the Group and the tourism sector in Sri Lanka. His extensive experience in hospitality and leisure will provide the insight and vigor we need as we embark on the next chapter of our business. He will be building upon the strong foundations established by Chandana Talwatte, whose contributions have been vital in shaping the brand and the company since its inception. We are truly appreciative of Chandana’s leadership and dedication, and we anticipate a seamless transition as Nirekshe takes the helm at Citrus.”

Chandana Talwatte is set to complete his tenure as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Citrus Leisure PLC on November 11, 2026. Nirekshe will officially step into the role of Group Chief Executive Officer for the Citrus Group starting November 12, 2026. This leadership change signifies a new era for Citrus and its portfolio of hospitality properties, which includes Citrus Waskaduwa, Citrus Hikkaduwa, and The Steuart by Citrus, along with its dining venues such as Ceylon Curry Club.

Looking ahead, Citrus is poised to revitalize its hotels and dining experiences, focusing on enhancing guest engagement while strategically positioning the Group for future growth.
