Tamil film stars Suriya and Jyotika have celebrated their two-decade-long marriage by renewing their wedding vows. The couple shared a heartfelt video of the ceremony on Instagram, marking this special occasion.
The footage showcases Suriya and Jyotika exchanging vows in a church, believed to be located overseas, surrounded by their children, Diya and Dev, as well as family members, including Suriya’s brother, fellow actor Karthi, and close friends.
For the vow renewal, Jyotika donned an elegant white gown, while Suriya opted for a stylish white suit jacket paired with black trousers.
In her Instagram post, Jyotika reflected on the significance of the event, stating, “This vow renewal is a celebration of our 20 years of love and challenges. It’s not about a flawless marriage, but rather about embracing our imperfections, understanding, sacrifices, and the selfless love we share. This is a tribute to ‘us’—the individuals we have evolved into for one another. Interestingly, a dream that once seemed distant has now become a reality I will cherish for a lifetime!”
Jyotika further shared her personal vows, which included promises to maintain a positive outlook on life, celebrate the gift of love, and express gratitude for the family she has built with Suriya. She emphasized the importance of being a supportive partner and a loving mother, highlighting her desire to be the best version of herself for her children. Jyotika concluded her vows by celebrating their friendship, recognizing the rarity of finding a true confidant and partner in Suriya. “Here’s to the next twenty years—embracing our imperfections while fostering perfect understanding,” she wrote.
Suriya and Jyotika first collaborated on-screen in the 1999 film Poovellam Kettuppar, and their cinematic chemistry continued through various films, such as Uyirile Kalanthathu (2000), Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Perazhagan (2004), Maayavi (2005), and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006).
After their marriage in 2006, Jyotika took a hiatus from acting to focus on family life but made her return to cinema in 2015 with the film 36 Vayadhinile, directed by Rosshan Andrrews.
