Authorities are actively seeking the mother of an infant whose remains were discovered along a Welsh coast, expressing concern for her well-being and potential vulnerability.

A member of the public discovered the deceased child near the Menai Strait in North Wales, though details regarding the infant’s age and gender have not been released.

Fiona Giraud, the director of midwifery and women’s services at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, emphasized that there are significant concerns regarding the mother’s health. She stated, “It is likely that she is in a very vulnerable state. She may hesitate to seek the necessary support due to fears of being identified.”

In a heartfelt message to the mother, Giraud said, “Our primary concern is for your health, safety, and overall well-being. We understand that you might be feeling scared, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your next steps. You do not have to face this situation on your own.”

Giraud acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of the baby’s passing, stressing the importance of locating the mother to ensure her safety and provide any medical assistance she might require. She encouraged the mother to connect with healthcare professionals, police officers, or visit a police station for support.

North Wales Police reported that the infant’s body was found in Bangor shortly before 5 PM on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Kelly Wynne stated, “We are worried that the mother may not feel capable of seeking help, which is why we are making a direct appeal to her, the father, and anyone who might have pertinent information, including friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues.”

Wynne urged anyone with knowledge of a woman or girl who may have been pregnant or exhibiting unusual behavior in recent months, such as distancing herself from social connections, to reach out. “The mother is in urgent need of assistance. If you have any relevant information, please do the right thing and help ensure she receives the necessary health support.”

The police assured that any information received will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and that individuals can be quickly ruled out as the mother if necessary.

The police department has announced that a postmortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.
