The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have begun the deportation process for a 26-year-old Afghan national, Danyar Hussain, who had been in India to study for an MA in Economics. Authorities discovered that he was overstaying his visa and residential permit, which had expired. This information was reported on Tuesday.

Hussain was located in a residential complex in Bavdhan Budruk during an operation led by the Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, in collaboration with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO). The operation took place on Monday, September 28, with assistance from local Bavdhan police.

A statement from the Pimpri-Chinchwad police indicated that the ATB’s mandate includes the identification of foreign nationals who exceed their allowed stay in India. The FRO had informed the ATB that Hussain was residing in the commissionerate’s area despite his authorized stay having lapsed.

Using information from confidential sources and technical analysis, the ATB and FRO teams were able to trace Hussain to his residence in Bavdhan Budruk. Upon reaching the location with the Bavdhan police, they found Hussain, who claimed to be a second-year student at Modern College in Shivajinagar. However, police checks revealed that he had not attended classes since January 2026.

The authorities reviewed Hussain’s passport and immigration documents, confirming that he held an Afghan passport and had been illegally residing in India since his visa and residential permit expired in January of this year. As he had not sought an extension, he was deemed to be living in India beyond the limits set by immigration authorities. Following this verification, the police took steps to initiate his deportation.

This action is part of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police’s broader efforts to identify foreign nationals living illegally in the area. Furthermore, police have called on local residents, landlords, and businesses that host foreign nationals to report relevant information to the FRO. They emphasized the need for those providing accommodations—whether in rooms, flats, bungalows, or hotels—to submit the required C-form within 24 hours. Non-compliance could lead to legal repercussions.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have encouraged citizens to report any instances of illegal foreign nationals residing in their neighborhoods to the FRO or the ATB. This operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officials from the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate, FRO, and ATB.
