Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development has granted a contract valued at 2.89 billion rupees (excluding VAT) to Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd for the extension of the Baseline Road by 0.86 kilometers, as announced by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
The third phase of the Baseline Road Extension Project aims to enhance the roadway from Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street along the Colombo-Horana Road.
According to Jayatissa, the project will transform this section into a six-lane roadway, incorporating various infrastructure upgrades, including an underpass, signalized intersections, pedestrian amenities, and improvements to the drainage system.
The ministry had solicited bids for this project, receiving a total of seven submissions, with Maga Engineering emerging as the lowest responsive bidder, Jayatissa noted. (Colombo/Sep29/2026)
