A headmaster of a government school and his spouse were found deceased at their residence on the grounds of a private educational institution in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities were alerted on Tuesday morning to the discovery of the bodies in Kumbhi Dariya village, which falls under the Kadipur police jurisdiction. Staff members of the school arrived at the scene and found the couple lying in blood.
The victims have been identified as Mukesh Singh, 48, who served as the headmaster of Composite School in Sultanpur, and his wife, Vineeta Singh, 45, who managed the private school.
Initial investigations by the police indicate that the assailants may have killed Vineeta first, and then attacked Mukesh when he attempted to escape. Vineeta’s body was located approximately 100 meters away from that of her husband.
Both individuals appeared to have suffered severe injuries; they had deep cuts on their bodies and their throats were reportedly slashed. Law enforcement stated that the precise nature of the injuries would be confirmed following postmortem examinations.
A blood-stained axe was discovered at the site of the incident, although authorities have yet to determine if it was used in the attack.
Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal mentioned that it remains uncertain whether the murders occurred late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
The police are exploring various potential motives, including possible personal conflicts, and are in the process of collecting testimonies from family and acquaintances of the couple. They are also reviewing local CCTV footage and analyzing evidence from the crime scene to piece together the timeline of events and identify the perpetrators.
Mukesh was actively engaged in local teachers’ union activities and was running for election within the teachers’ association. Vineeta had previously contested for a position as a panchayat member but was unsuccessful.
The couple had resided in their home for thirty years. Mukesh was the youngest of three siblings. They are survived by a 20-year-old son, Abhyuday, who is currently pursuing his studies at a university in Delhi.
