A tragic three-car accident in western Victoria has resulted in the death of a 14-year-old girl, who is being remembered fondly by those who knew her as “bubbly, bright, and energetic.” The young victim, Tenesha Fieldsend, was involved in the collision that occurred at Ledcourt on Sunday evening.
Authorities are actively investigating the details surrounding the incident. Tenesha, who was returning home from a volleyball tournament in Horsham with family members, was traveling in a Mitsubishi Triton driven by her 17-year-old brother. They were accompanied by their 11-year-old sister and their mother, aged 43, when their vehicle collided with a truck and another car on the Western Highway at approximately 6:45 PM.
Two occupants of the third vehicle, identified as an MG ZS, tragically lost their lives on the scene. Blake Hunter, the coach of the volleyball team that Tenesha played for, expressed his sorrow and shared a heartfelt tribute, describing her as an “amazing human being” who had a deep affection for everyone around her.
Known to her friends and teammates as “T,” Tenesha hailed from Sale, located east of Melbourne. She had recently competed in the Volleyball Victoria Junior Country Championships in Horsham, where her team earned a bronze medal in the under-17 girls’ division. Coach Hunter emphasized her vibrant spirit, stating that she was known for her infectious enthusiasm on the court, always maintaining a positive attitude regardless of the game’s outcome.
As the family grapples with this profound loss, Tenesha’s brother is reportedly coping as best as possible under the circumstances, while their younger sister remains in critical condition and undergoing multiple surgeries. Coach Hunter requested privacy for the family during this difficult time and highlighted the volleyball community’s support for the players involved.
To assist the family, a GoFundMe campaign has been established. In a statement released on social media, Volleyball Latrobe Valley expressed their deep sorrow over Tenesha’s passing, acknowledging her as a cherished member of their sports community. They extended their condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Volleyball Horsham also conveyed their heartbreak following the loss of Tenesha, reflecting on the shared moments spent together during the Junior Country Championships. The Gippsland Sports Academy joined in expressing their thoughts and support for Tenesha’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
