Federal authorities in Texas have filed charges against a Venezuelan delivery driver who was involved in a shooting incident with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent earlier this month. This information was revealed in court documents released on Tuesday.
Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, 28, is accused by prosecutors of assaulting an ICE officer by allegedly hitting the officer with his vehicle while attempting to flee from arrest.
The Department of Homeland Security has indicated that Garces Perez is residing in the United States without legal authorization, having previously been ordered deported by an immigration judge.
This is an evolving news story and will receive further updates as more information becomes available.
