Ti West returns with his latest film, “Ebenezer,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” featuring Johnny Depp in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. This new version maintains the essence of the original narrative while introducing a chilling twist that has captivated audiences.
The trailer showcases Scrooge (played by Johnny Depp), a wealthy and resentful individual whose obsession with wealth overshadows everything else. On Christmas Eve, he encounters the ghost of his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley (portrayed by Ian McKellen), who warns him to amend his ways or suffer dire consequences.
Following Marley’s warning, Scrooge is visited by the three Ghosts of Christmas: Past, Present, and Yet to Come. Each spirit compels him to revisit his past, assess his current actions, and glimpse the ominous future that lies ahead. The film depicts Scrooge’s otherworldly journey as he reevaluates the man he has become and the individual he aspires to be.
The trailer has generated considerable excitement among fans, who took to the comments section to express their enthusiasm for the film. One viewer remarked, “Johnny Depp is truly in his element,” while another noted, “This adaptation seems to align closely with Dickens’ original intent, emphasizing the horror aspects.” A third fan expressed their joy at seeing Depp return to the big screen: “It brings tears of happiness to my eyes to know that I will see Johnny Depp in cinemas again. Let’s go!”
In addition to Johnny Depp, “Ebenezer” features Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Fred, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, and Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 13, 2026.
