The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has officially opened the registration for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 and the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 as of October 1. CEED is aimed at candidates seeking admission to postgraduate design programs, while UCEED serves as the entry exam for undergraduate Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) courses.

Interested candidates can submit their applications via the official CEED and UCEED websites. The regular registration period will last until October 31, with an option for late registration available until November 6, 2026, for those willing to pay an additional fee.

CEED is specifically tailored for individuals aiming for M.Des. and PhD programs in design at various participating institutions. Applicants must have completed a graduate degree, a diploma, or any postgraduate program that spans a minimum of three years post-Class 12. Alternatively, candidates who are set to complete such programs by July 2027 are also eligible. Those who have successfully completed the five-year Government Diploma in Art (GD Art) after Class 10 by July 2027 may apply as well. There is no upper age limit for participating in CEED 2027.

Several institutes, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IISc Bengaluru, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIITDM Kancheepuram, accept CEED 2027 scores for their design programs. However, achieving a qualifying score on CEED does not automatically secure admission; candidates must apply individually to their desired institutions and fulfill any additional admission criteria, which may involve supplementary assessments or interviews. The validity of the CEED score extends for one year following the announcement of results.

UCEED facilitates admission to the four-year B.Des programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. Candidates wishing to take UCEED 2027 must have completed their Class 12 or an equivalent examination for the first time in 2026 or 2027. Students from Science, Commerce, and Arts and Humanities streams are eligible to participate. Additionally, candidates must adhere to the stipulated age requirements and can attempt UCEED a maximum of twice in consecutive years.

It is important to note that admission requirements for the B.Des program may differ by institution. Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the Class 12 level are eligible to apply to all seven participating institutes. Those from other educational streams can apply only to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Indore. To gain admission into the B.Des program, candidates must successfully qualify UCEED 2027 and have completed Class 12 during 2026 or 2027. The application process for B.Des admission will commence on March 15, 2027, using a unified application form.
