Henry Holland, a 43-year-old native of Greater Manchester, has built a diverse career in the fashion industry, initially serving as a stylist and fashion editor for Smash Hits magazine. He rose to prominence in 2006 with his clever slogan T-shirts, which garnered attention during London Fashion Week. In 2008, he launched his own fashion brand, House of Holland, and in 2020, he created Henry Holland Studio, focusing on ceramics and home decor. Currently, he is showcasing his exhibition titled “There’s No Place Like It” at The Royal Society of Sculptors in London, which will be open until November 28. Holland is married and resides in London.
Reflecting on his happiest moments, Holland recalls his late teenage years when he experienced the thrill of newfound independence without the burden of responsibilities. He identifies his greatest fear as experiencing grief again, particularly following the loss of a parent, which was one of the most challenging experiences of his life. On a personal level, he admits to struggling with procrastination, a trait he dislikes in himself, while he finds laziness to be the most frustrating characteristic in others.
Among his possessions, the necklace he wears, which belonged to his mother, holds the most sentimental value. He describes himself using three words: playful, ambitious, and silly. A lack of meaningful connections with others is what makes him unhappy, while he indulges in the reality television series “The Real Housewives,” particularly enjoying the Salt Lake City, Beverly Hills, and Orange County franchises.
When it comes to his appearance, Holland expresses dissatisfaction with his nose, feeling it is large and has a noticeable bump. Although he has contemplated surgery, he has been advised against it, as he would prefer to maintain his distinct look. If a film were made about his life, he believes a young Sean Penn would be the ideal actor to portray him. Regarding personal habits, he admits to vaping as one of his less appealing traits.
As a child, Holland aspired to achieve fame, but he now values anonymity far more. He acknowledges having said “I love you” insincerely at least once, likely to a female friend. He candidly shares that he holds negative feelings toward several prominent figures, including Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Nigel Farage. His most commonly used word is simply “yes.”
Holland reflects on his biggest disappointment, which was not achieving his dream of becoming an Olympic gymnast. When asked about his sexual activity, he humorously rebuffs the inquiry, deeming it inappropriate. He recounts a harrowing experience when his Uber driver lost consciousness while driving, leading to a crash that left him shaken, especially since he had to reach forward to take control of the vehicle from the back seat. Surprisingly, he notes that Uber charged him for the ride despite the chaos.
In terms of legal troubles, he admits to receiving numerous speeding tickets throughout his life. Ultimately, he emphasizes the vital lesson he has learned: to live life on his own terms.
