The latest episode of The Celebrity Inner Circle has just concluded on BBC1. Thanks to the wonders of pre-recorded television, among the contestants is Will Best from Strictly Come Dancing. One can only hope he’s prepared with his dance shoes and transportation ready.

Tonight’s episode is set to run for an impressive 155 minutes, extending five minutes longer than last week’s premiere live show. It is anticipated that the additional time will be filled with film-related content, reminiscent of a Christopher Nolan production.

As we approach the familiar Pearl & Dean theme…

This week’s Movie Week features 15 routines, marking the series’ first Charleston and Couple’s Choice performances. Is it too early for such variety? Perhaps.

Furthermore, there will be an abundance of ballroom dances tonight, with nine traditional performances catering to fans of classic styles. Only 15 minutes remain until the dazzling show begins…

Keep track of the clichés as you watch! Take a sip for each one you notice! You might even find yourself sentimentally reaching out to an ex! Here’s your 10-item checklist for Movie Week:

  • Overuse of the term “iconic”
  • Uncomfortably long pause as the presenter on the balcony transitions back to the main studio
  • A celebrity awkwardly claiming to pay tribute to their favorite film (Ratatouille, really?)
  • Emma Willis channeling Tess Daly with “The crowd are on their feet!”
  • Anton Du Beke reminiscing about his past Movie Week performances
  • Film-themed video segments featuring Craig as the antagonist and Shirley as the fairy godmother
  • Judges struggling to score Couple’s Choice, leading to arbitrary high ratings
  • A celebrity receiving vague compliments such as “having fun,” “telling a story,” or “embracing the character”
  • Craig expressing dissatisfaction with the ankle movement in this year’s first Charleston
  • Overexploitation of the first theme of the series

Since there was no public voting last week, tonight marks the audience’s first opportunity to support their favorites. Unfortunately, the first couple will face elimination.

The scores from last Saturday will carry over, merging with tonight’s scores and the public votes. The bottom two couples will enter this year’s inaugural dance-off, and one will leave the competition with the wooden spoon.

Any predictions for elimination? Shaun Wright-Phillips is a popular choice among bookmakers, but Dame Sarah Storey, Melanie Walters, and Chris Appleton could also be at risk. Don’t forget to prepare your snacks; the show starts in just 25 minutes…

Last week marked the debut of a new presenting trio: Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe. The transition wasn’t entirely seamless, as there were noticeable delays during handovers. Johannes struggled to be heard over the crowd noise, and Josh received criticism in the press for appearing out of place.

However, it’s not a cause for panic just yet. Let’s give them a chance to find their rhythm. Nevertheless, BBC executives will be hoping for a more polished performance this evening.

Get ready, Barry Norman. Clunk-click, Pauline Kael. There are less than 30 minutes until the cameras start rolling…

Lights, camera, ballroom! Surprisingly, Strictly Come Dancing has decided to move Movie Week to the show’s first full weekend. This season has already introduced numerous changes, including a reshuffling of the dance floor schedule.

Good evening, and welcome to the second live show of the season. I’m Michael, your enthusiastic usherette for tonight, inviting you to join me as we roll out the red carpet for the premiere theme week of 2026.

Last week’s live kickoff saw John Nellis take the lead with a foxtrot while three couples found themselves at the bottom. Unprecedentedly, all 15 pro-celebrity pairs will showcase their Movie Week performances earlier than usual this season. They will present routines inspired by Hollywood films, aiming to avoid elimination, so expect a variety of costumes and creative props.

On Sunday, their scores will be combined with last week’s results and the first public voting, leading to one couple’s departure from the competition. Which routine will become a hit, and which will be deemed a flop?

The show starts at 6:15 PM on BBC One. I will be liveblogging from 5:45 PM, offering insights, real-time updates, analysis, and audience reactions. So grab your overpriced snacks, and I’ll see you in the front row!

As always, I welcome your thoughts and feedback. You can reach me on Twitter @michaelhogan, on Bluesky or Threads @michaelhogan100, or via email at michael.hogan.freelance@guardian.co.uk. The comments section is also open for your Movie Week thoughts, and I’ll occasionally check in to share your reactions.

Ready for a night at the movies? The time has come for cinematic dancing!
