A 29-year-old man reportedly took his own life after falling from the balcony of the Supernova Spira skyscraper, located on the 43rd floor in Sector 94 of Noida, according to police reports from Saturday, October 3.
The individual, who resided in Gurgaon, had checked into the building for a short-term rental on Friday, as confirmed by Manisha Singh, the Additional Commissioner of Police in Noida.
Supernova Spira is the tallest structure in Noida and is part of the larger Supertech project currently under development near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, adjacent to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary station on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line.
Police received notification of the incident around 11:30 am. A video circulating on social media shows bystanders on the balcony attempting to rescue the man before he fell.
Preliminary investigations by law enforcement indicate that the deceased was experiencing significant financial distress. “He had been communicating with his father over the past few days, expressing a desire to end his life. He hadn’t returned home for an extended period and was staying in various locations. He checked into the rental unit alone on Friday. We have reached out to inform his family,” stated a police official.
The body has been sent for an autopsy, and forensic experts have examined the scene to gather pertinent evidence. “We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and a comprehensive investigation is in progress to explore all possibilities. Witnesses have reported that the deceased appeared to be suffering from mental strain,” the officer added.
