At the Chetak Screen Awards 2026, the accolade for Best Script in the OTT film category was awarded to Karan Tejpal, Gaurav Dhingra, and Swapnil Salkar for their work on “Stolen.” This category featured strong contenders from 2025’s most captivating streaming films. Other nominees included Harman Baweja, Anu Singh Choudhary, and Arati Kadav for “Mrs,” Smita Singh for “Raat Akeli Hai – The Bansal Murders,” Danish Renzu, Sunayana Kachroo, and Niranjan Iyengar for “Songs of Paradise,” as well as Alexander Dinelaris and Boman Irani for “The Mehta Boys,” making it a competitive race.
The trophy was presented during a lavish ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday, with Mukesh Chhabra and Anup Soni officiating the award presentation. The event featured notable figures including Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, comedians Zakir Khan and Sunil Grover, along with prominent journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, who serves as the Hindi Editor for The Indian Express.
Organized by The Indian Express Group, the Chetak Screen Awards are founded on a principle that prioritizes merit. The selection of winners was conducted by the Screen Academy, an independent group comprising 53 distinguished filmmakers, artists, and cultural leaders, which adds a level of credibility that is rare among Indian film awards.
The voting process utilized a structured grading system developed by Dr. Priya Jaikumar from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, ensuring a thorough evaluation process for the honors. The Academy features esteemed members such as Shoojit Sircar, Deepa Mehta, Sriram Raghavan, Ram Madhvani, Guneet Monga Kapoor, John Abraham, Kabir Khan, Karan Johar, and Vidya Balan, among many others.
