On Sunday, PSV Eindhoven secured their 27th Dutch championship title, clinching the honor with five matches remaining in the season, following Feyenoord’s goalless draw against Volendam.
After overcoming two consecutive losses, PSV achieved a thrilling 4-3 victory over Utrecht on Saturday, establishing a commanding 17-point lead at the top of the league standings that is now insurmountable.
Under the guidance of Peter Bosz, PSV quickly asserted their dominance in the title race, having dropped only four points prior to the winter break. This marks their third consecutive championship, a feat not accomplished since 2008.
Feyenoord, who were the reigning champions in 2023 under the management of Arne Slot—now coaching Liverpool—have seen Ajax, currently positioned fifth in the league, go four years without securing the title.
With this latest championship win, PSV has also guaranteed their spot in the group stage of next season’s Champions League.
In the Bundesliga, St. Pauli’s aspirations to escape the relegation zone were dampened after they played to a 1-1 draw against Union Berlin on Sunday. The visitors took the lead with a stunning first-half goal from Mathias Pereira Lage, only for Andrej Ilic to equalize shortly after halftime with a goal from a corner.
This draw leaves St. Pauli in the relegation playoff position, sitting third from the bottom, just one point behind 15th-placed Cologne, who are scheduled to face Eintracht Frankfurt in a later match on Sunday. Union Berlin currently sits 10th in the standings, seven points clear of St. Pauli, with six matches remaining this season.
