A 19-year-old male was reportedly struck by a DTC bus in the Azadpur area of Northwest Delhi on Sunday evening, according to police reports.
Authorities received an emergency call at 5:30 PM at the Adarsh Nagar police station, indicating that an individual was found injured at the scene. He was subsequently transported to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, as stated by a police official.
Police investigations indicated that the incident occurred around 5 PM when the victim, named Akash, was attempting to cross a heavily trafficked road in Azadpur. Initial findings suggest that he was struck by a DTC bus, after which the driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene.
Officers noted that Akash was a laborer residing in Sahipur village, located in Shalimar Bagh. The police have notified his family regarding his passing. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to clarify the sequence of events and track the route taken by the DTC bus. Efforts are also underway to identify the driver using the bus’s registration number, and a search for the suspect is ongoing, according to a police spokesperson.
