Uttar Pradesh Government Increases Monthly Honorarium for Shiksha Mitras and Instructors by ₹8,000

On Tuesday, the government of Uttar Pradesh announced a significant increase in the monthly honorarium for Shiksha Mitras and part-time educators employed in government primary schools, according to official sources.

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stated that the monthly honorarium for Shiksha Mitras will rise from the current Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000. Similarly, the honorarium for Anudeshaks will be adjusted from Rs 9,000 to Rs 17,000 per month.

The new payment rates will take effect on April 1, with the first revised payments scheduled for distribution on May 1.

During a press conference, Singh noted that the honorarium for Shiksha Mitras had not been updated since 2017, when it was increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 10,000. The latest adjustment brings it to Rs 18,000.

Currently, there are 142,929 Shiksha Mitras employed in the state, with 129,332 of them receiving funding under a 60:40 ratio shared with the central government.

This increase will result in an additional financial obligation of Rs 1,138.12 crore for the state treasury, Singh explained.

Additionally, there are 24,717 part-time instructors working across 13,769 upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh. The elevation of their honorarium from Rs 9,000 to Rs 17,000 per month will create an added financial responsibility of Rs 217.5 crore, which will be absorbed by the state government.
