On Tuesday, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, alongside Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, unveiled a new policy aimed at the regularization of unauthorized colonies in the capital. Unfortunately, Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu could not be present at the announcement due to prior commitments. Despite his absence, his name was included in the press conference invitations distributed the day before. Initially, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had issued invitations featuring only Manohar Lal and Sandhu, with the Chief Minister’s name being added shortly before the event was confirmed.
During a session on Tuesday, Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi, a member of the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) principal bench, emphasized the importance of providing English translations for submissions made in Hindi by certain state government counsels. He acknowledged his own proficiency in Hindi but pointed out that other tribunal members might not share this capability. As a result, he insisted that translated documents should always accompany any filings. Justice Tyagi further recommended that the registry assist in ensuring that these translations are available.
In a recent directive, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha has instructed all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in the city to actively engage with citizens who come to them with complaints, striving to resolve issues at their level. This initiative aims to enhance the public’s perception of the police force. Additionally, he has encouraged DCPs to visit police stations, interact with personnel, and inspire them to perform their duties more effectively.
