Detectives from the Homicide Squad are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Padbury, located in the northern suburbs of Perth.
According to a statement from Western Australia Police, officers were dispatched to a residence on Buchanan Way following reports of a disturbance at approximately 6:15 PM on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement found a 69-year-old man suffering from severe injuries. Emergency personnel administered first aid until paramedics from St John WA arrived and transported the man to Royal Perth Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
A 39-year-old man, believed to have had a prior acquaintance with the victim, was apprehended at the scene and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Police Minister Reece Whitby described the scene as “confronting” for both officers and first responders involved.
“They have had to endure the emotional impact of this situation,” he remarked.
Mr. Whitby expressed his condolences, stating that his thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victim.
