Youth faces charges following fatal crash in Ipswich that took the life of a 16-year-old passenger.

A 17-year-old driver has been charged following a tragic accident last month that resulted in the death of his 16-year-old passenger.

Emergency services responded to a collision on Brisbane Road in Goodna, located west of Brisbane, at approximately 9 PM on March 11. Reports indicated that a vehicle had crashed into an underpass on the motorway.

The 16-year-old boy from Redbank Plains suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the car, along with another 16-year-old male passenger, also sustained injuries and was taken for medical treatment.

Authorities have reported that the Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by the 17-year-old from Collingwood Park, veered into oncoming traffic before striking the underpass.

The young driver faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle resulting in death or serious bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in the Ipswich Children’s Court on April 13.
