Kamala Harris Contemplates Another Presidential Bid: “It’s a Possibility”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris hinted at the possibility of a third presidential campaign, stating she is “considering it,” which prompted enthusiastic applause from attendees at the National Action Network Convention on Friday.

In a conversation with Rev. Al Sharpton during the event in New York City, Harris responded affirmatively when asked about her intentions for another run. “I’m thinking about it, I’m thinking about it,” she said, acknowledging the question directly.

During her remarks, Harris reflected on her travels over the past year, emphasizing that the existing political landscape is failing to meet the needs of many citizens. “I’ve spent considerable time traveling across the country, particularly in the South, and I am convinced that the status quo is not effective and has been inadequate for a significant number of people for quite some time. One of the key issues is the need to streamline government bureaucracy and recognize that people are not seeking processes; they want tangible progress. This is the work we must focus on,” she stated.

Throughout her discussion with Sharpton, the crowd chanted phrases like “run again,” signaling their support for her potential candidacy.

The National Action Network Convention is anticipated to be a major gathering for prospective Democratic contenders for the 2028 presidential election, featuring appearances from notable figures such as former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Senator Mark Kelly, and Representative Ro Khanna. Most of these individuals have either shown interest in or have not dismissed the idea of entering the presidential race.

During the four-day convention, several potential candidates, including Harris, have addressed the ongoing Iran conflict while engaging with Sharpton. On Friday, Harris criticized former President Trump’s approach to the Iran situation, claiming he has undermined the United States’ relationships with its allies, resulting in a decline in the nation’s global standing.

Harris expressed concern that under Trump’s leadership, America is losing its international stature, asserting that restoring it will require “serious” efforts.

In response to Trump’s assertions that he “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program last June, Harris suggested that the current conflict serves as evidence to the contrary. “He claimed that he eradicated their nuclear arsenal. ‘Obliterated’ is a strong term that implies complete removal. Clearly, that has not occurred,” she stated.

As her book tour concludes, Harris plans to engage in fundraising activities for Democratic candidates throughout the South this spring, aiming to bolster the party’s prospects in the upcoming midterm elections. Her schedule for April includes fundraising events for the Democratic parties in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, along with a speech at the Arkansas Democratic Party’s annual dinner.
