A 16-year-old boy from Romford has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor, who was fatally shot in southeast London last week, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Another 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Friday, also on murder charges, and he is currently being held for further questioning.
The teenager charged on Friday is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, April 11. Initially arrested on April 4 and released on bail, he was re-arrested on April 9.
An investigation commenced on April 2 when police responded to reports of a shooting at 3:40 PM on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich. Upon arrival, officers, alongside the London Ambulance Service, discovered Eghosa suffering from severe injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police have stated that Eghosa’s family is receiving support from specialized officers during this difficult time.
In addition, six other individuals, including boys aged 14 and two aged 16, along with men aged 18, 19, and 46, have been arrested in connection with the incident. These individuals have been released on bail as investigations are ongoing.
The incident occurred on a residential street near the Woolwich Dockyard train station. Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information or video footage to contact the police via 101 or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
