Minister Chhagan Bhujbal’s helicopter lands unexpectedly; CM Devendra Fadnavis pledges to look into the matter.

On Saturday, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that an investigation will be initiated regarding an incident involving a helicopter that was supposed to land at a designated site but instead landed in a parking area in Purandar taluka, Pune district. This helicopter was carrying Chhagan Bhujbal, the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies.

During a press conference in Pune, Fadnavis confirmed the decision to probe the matter. The incident occurred as Bhujbal was en route to an event commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of the social reformer Jyotiba Phule in Khanwadi village. Bhujbal reassured reporters, stating, “My chopper landed in a parking lot… we are all safe.”

The Pune rural police have indicated that they will notify the Directorate General of Civil Aviation regarding the occurrence. This situation arises just two months after a tragic plane crash in Baramati that claimed the lives of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar and four others.

MLA Rohit Pawar, who has previously expressed concerns about the Baramati crash, emphasized the seriousness of the current incident. He remarked, “I have consistently stated that additional precautions should be taken when high-profile individuals are traveling by helicopter. Various issues have been identified in aircraft and helicopters due to inadequate maintenance. Luckily, this time no one was harmed, but it is crucial for the government to prevent such oversights. I hope they will implement necessary precautions moving forward.”
