In a notable advancement that fulfills a long-standing request, the residents of Ladakh can now have their proper identity acknowledged in their Aadhaar records. The state designation has been updated from “Jammu & Kashmir” to “Ladakh,” a change made possible by the efforts of Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.
A press statement indicated that the Union Territory administration engaged with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to guarantee that the unique regional identity of Ladakh is correctly reflected in the Aadhaar system.
