Havelock City Mall Brings the Spirit of the Village to the City with “Nostalgic Avurudu”

Havelock City Mall (HCM) has unveiled its seasonal initiative for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, titled “Nostalgic Avurudu.” This event is set to take place from March 21 to April 12 and aims to merge traditional cultural festivities with a variety of retail activities across the mall, featuring a well-planned schedule of community involvement.

Central to this initiative is the creation of a traditional Avurudu Village within the mall, designed to enable urban residents to reconnect with the nostalgic aspects of village-style New Year celebrations in a convenient city environment. This endeavor presents families in Colombo with a unique chance to immerse themselves in the true spirit of the season, despite their busy schedules.

The Avurudu Waasi segment will be active from March 21 to April 12, showcasing special seasonal discounts and promotions from participating retail outlets. Meanwhile, the Avurudu Wasana giveaway will run from March 24 to April 12, offering shoppers the chance to win exciting prizes. The festivities will also include Avurudu Ulela and Games on April 4 and 5, which will introduce traditional Avurudu games to a communal setting, encouraging shoppers to come together and enjoy the celebrations.

The season will culminate with Avurudu Kadamandiya, scheduled for April 6 to 12, featuring a traditional market that emphasizes local craftsmanship and flavors. This market will showcase artisan products, Avurudu sweets, and seasonal delicacies, providing local artisans and small businesses with a prominent platform during this peak trading period.

Through the “Nostalgic Avurudu” program, Havelock City Mall aims to solidify its reputation as a leading lifestyle destination, offering experiences that resonate culturally and provide seasonal value for shoppers, retail partners, and local entrepreneurs during the New Year festivities.
