A tragic incident occurred in Devonport, located in north-west Tasmania, where a house fire claimed the life of an individual.

Emergency services received reports of the fire on Gunn Street at around 5 AM and promptly arrived at the scene.

Once the flames were brought under control, firefighters discovered a deceased person within the residence.

According to the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS), it is believed that the victim was the occupant of the unit.

Authorities will conduct a formal identification of the individual and initiate an investigation to determine the fire’s origin today.
