A tragic incident occurred on a private property in Queensland’s Western Downs, resulting in the death of a toddler who was retrieved from a body of water.

Emergency responders arrived at the location in Tara, located approximately 300 kilometers west of Brisbane, shortly after 1 PM on Monday.

According to a representative from the Queensland Ambulance Service, the 18-month-old boy was transported to Tara Hospital in critical condition.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

Initially, the LifeFlight helicopter team was summoned to provide assistance.

Authorities have indicated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be compiled for the coroner to investigate the matter further.
