Karan Johar experiences a thrilling fan encounter with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway as excitement builds for The Devil Wears Prada 2: ‘I was shaking with excitement’

Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are actively promoting their eagerly awaited film, The Devil Wears Prada 2. During their promotional activities in Tokyo, filmmaker Karan Johar experienced a moment of excitement upon meeting the two esteemed Oscar winners. He took to social media to express his admiration, revealing he was quite starstruck by the encounter.

On his Instagram, Johar posted a series of photos alongside the Hollywood icons, captioning it with heartfelt sincerity: “This is not just a caption; it’s a confession. I am profoundly captivated and inspired by the unmatched talent of Meryl Streep. She has, in many ways, served as my mentor in the craft of acting and character portrayal throughout film! I have viewed The Devil Wears Prada at least 47 times. I have cited lines from it during dinner conversations, in editing rooms, and even at board meetings (I’m not joking!). So, when I say that standing next to her and them today made me feel the ground shift, please take me at my word. I attempted to maintain my composure, but here’s another confession – my knees were shaking!”

Johar continued, “Both were incredibly warm and gracious. This picture is going to be part of my will. Stay tuned for more… because I had a conversation with the season’s favorites. And one more thing… that’s all.”

Many celebrities, including Ananya Panday and Neha Dhupia, expressed their reactions in the comments of his post.

Following the immense success of The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are reuniting with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna for The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel will also introduce several new characters portrayed by Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Additionally, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will reprise their roles as Lily and Irv from the original film. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
