LONDON — A gunman was killed outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, while two accomplices sustained injuries during the incident, according to Turkish police reports provided to ABC News.
The assailants, clad in camouflage pants, initiated a shootout with armed police and security personnel as they neared the consulate. As a result of the confrontation, two police officers were injured, law enforcement officials confirmed.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli consulate in Istanbul has been closed to the public.
