Tanika Bromley, who faces murder charges in connection with the death of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, remains in detention following a court appearance today.
Pheobe was reported missing in May of the previous year, prompting an extensive search effort. Tragically, her body was discovered several weeks later in a remote bushland area.
The proceedings concerning Ms. Bromley are scheduled to reconvene on May 15, coinciding with the first anniversary of Pheobe’s disappearance.
During today’s session at the Bundaberg Magistrates Court, Tanika Kristan Bromley was not present. She is charged with one count of murder, along with two counts of interfering with a corpse.
The court was informed that the defense team is still awaiting some key documents related to the substantial evidence against Ms. Bromley.
Additionally, James Thomas Muir Wood has also been implicated in the alleged murder of the teenager.
Emergency services launched a significant search operation when Pheobe failed to board her flight at Bundaberg Airport on May 15, 2025. Her remains were subsequently located in bushland near Gin Gin weeks later.
Furthermore, the court addressed the case of Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser, another individual charged in relation to Pheobe’s death. Mr. Mittelheuser faces two counts of accessory after the fact to murder and one count of attempting to pervert justice.
During the hearing, it was disclosed that Mr. Mittelheuser’s request for Legal Aid had been denied, and his attorney is currently appealing that ruling. He is set to return to court on May 5.
