Prior to the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh was frequently in the news not only for his vibrant personality and extravagant fashion choices but also for his roles in films such as Padmaavat and Lootera. However, following the successful launch of Dhurandhar, the actor has adopted a notably restrained public presence, refraining from appearing in public events and remaining inactive on social media. He has not yet participated in any interviews since the film debuted. Observers have noted a distinct change in his public behavior, speculating that he has become more reserved in light of the controversy surrounding Kantara that emerged before the first Dhurandhar film’s release.
Manav Gohil, who stars alongside Ranveer in Dhurandhar, commented on this change during an interview with Hindi Rush. He remarked, “Ranveer is currently undergoing a significant transition in his life. He has recently embraced fatherhood and is part of a historically significant film. He is already an established superstar and a talented actor—he has earned all his success. I believe there is a broader strategy guiding his current choices. If you look closely, his fashion, his presence in the media—everything has shifted. His overall demeanor has matured, and he now opts for more structured, tailored outfits. He appears to be a different individual.”
When the host mentioned the Kantara controversy, Gohil responded, “Ranveer is not just a star in India; he has a global presence. I’m confident he is becoming more mindful of how he manages his fame. There are advisors helping him navigate these decisions, and Deepika Padukone, who is quite perceptive, is likely one of them.”
Just prior to the release of Dhurandhar in December, Ranveer attended the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, where he had a chance meeting with Rishab Shetty. During their encounter, Ranveer recreated a scene from his favorite segment of Kantara: Chapter 1, which sparked backlash online. Rishab later expressed his discomfort with such reenactments, stating at another event that he finds it disrespectful when individuals mimic culturally significant performances, as it can be hurtful to sentiments.
Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar achieved remarkable box office success, grossing Rs 1300 crore worldwide. Its sequel exceeded expectations, reaching the same revenue within just 13 days of its release. Incredibly, reports from Jio Studios indicate that the film surpassed Rs 1600 crore globally within 18 days. Nevertheless, in light of this unprecedented triumph, Ranveer Singh has maintained a low profile, offering minimal public responses and was recently spotted at the NMACC anniversary celebrations.
