Gaurav Gera shares the gripping audition moment that earned him the part of Aalam in Dhurandhar.

Actor Gaurav Gera recently discussed the audition that secured him the role of Aalam Bhai in the Dhurandhar franchise, highlighting that one of the film’s most dramatic scenes played a crucial role in his casting. Gaurav portrays Mohammad Aalam, an undercover Indian intelligence officer masquerading as a juice vendor in the Karachi neighborhood of Lyari.

In a recent interview, Gera elaborated on his audition experience, revealing that he was specifically requested to showcase a powerful and emotionally charged scene. This particular moment occurs in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where Aalam convinces Hamza to take responsibility for Pinda’s death, which was the scene he performed during his audition.

“I was asked to audition using that intense and heavy scene. I went to Mukesh Chhabra’s office, where I was instructed to perform it,” Gaurav Gera told Hindustan Times.

This scene has turned out to be one of the defining moments of his character’s journey. Gera noted that he was not taken aback by its significance, stating, “It wasn’t surprising to me… I realized it was a unique role, and Hamza’s only ally in the film.”

The actor expressed that the role distinguished itself to him from the outset due to its emotional richness and importance within the storyline. His character, Aalam Bhai, quickly became a favorite among fans, particularly for the quirky line “Darling, darling dil kyu toda…” which has gained traction on social media.

Gera also mentioned that casting director Mukesh Chhabra had previously approached him for a different project with director Aditya Dhar that did not come to fruition. However, this audition proved successful, and he felt a profound sense of conviction during filming, describing the experience as “crazy” and fulfilling.

Dhurandhar 2 has recently surpassed the lifetime earnings of S. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which stands at Rs 1,030.42 crore. The film has now achieved a total gross of Rs 1,237.21 crore in India, with its net collection reaching Rs 1,033.37 crore to date. Internationally, it gained Rs 4 crore on Day 20, bringing its total overseas gross to Rs 404 crore, while the worldwide total now stands at an impressive Rs 1,641.21 crore.

Dhurandhar, which debuted in theaters last December, has crossed the Rs 1600 crore milestone at the global box office.
