On Wednesday evening, the government of Haryana announced the transfer and posting of 15 IAS officers, which includes changes to the deputy commissioners of both Gurgaon and Karnal.

Uttam Singh, an IAS officer from the 2015 batch and currently serving as the deputy commissioner of Karnal, has been appointed as the new deputy commissioner of Gurgaon, succeeding Ajay Kumar. Ajay Kumar has been reassigned as the deputy principal secretary-2 to the chief minister, while Anand Kumar Sharma, who belongs to the 2019 batch, will assume the role of deputy commissioner for Karnal.

Saket Kumar, who has served as the chief minister’s additional principal secretary, is being transferred to the archives department as commissioner, a move that is perceived by many in the bureaucracy as a step back in his career. Previously, he managed several important departments, including those dealing with panchayats, cooperation, and the Haryana Power Generation Corporation.

In further changes, Vineet Garg, a 1991-batch IAS officer and the chairman of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, has been designated as the additional chief secretary for the printing and stationery department. Anurag Agarwal, who has served as the additional chief secretary for town and country planning, will now also oversee the irrigation and water resources sectors. Vijayendra Kumar, another officer of similar rank, will take on responsibilities in the panchayats department in addition to his existing duties in agriculture and other areas. Rajeev Ranjan will now manage the cooperation department alongside his current roles in labour, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, Pankaj Agarwal has been assigned to lead the architecture department, while CG Rajni Kaanthan will be the new commissioner for the mines and geology department, taking over from Agarwal. These changes represent a considerable restructuring within the state’s administrative framework, according to sources.
