On Wednesday, U.S. Vice President JD Vance revealed that Iran submitted three distinct 10-point plans prior to the anticipated ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. He noted that among these proposals, the first one was believed to have been generated by ChatGPT.
Vance expressed concern over the confusion stemming from Iran’s multiple proposals, which has made it unclear which plan will serve as the foundation for upcoming negotiations set to take place in Islamabad on April 11.
According to CNN, Vance stated, “The initial 10-point proposal was something that was presented and we suspect was likely crafted by ChatGPT. It was given to Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but it was quickly discarded and rejected.”
He remarked that the third proposal he encountered on social media was even more ambitious than the first, adding, “The original plan was submitted by someone who seems to be just a random individual in Iran.”
An Iranian delegation is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Thursday evening for discussions aimed at resolving conflicts with the U.S. and Israel. This follows the U.S. agreement to a two-week ceasefire. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, conveyed this information via a post on X, stating, “Despite the skepticism from the Iranian public due to repeated ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime, the Iranian delegation will arrive tonight in Islamabad for serious discussions based on Iran’s proposed 10 points.”
On Wednesday, U.S. President Trump endorsed a two-week ceasefire plan presented by Iran. Tehran asserted that the U.S. had accepted the 10-point proposal and had agreed to compensate for damages incurred during the conflict. However, U.S. officials dismissed Iran’s assertions of victory in the war.
Both the U.S. and Iran claimed success following the agreement, prompting relief from global leaders, even as drone and missile attacks continued to target Iran and Gulf Arab nations.
The ceasefire agreement appeared precarious as of Wednesday, especially after Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon, as reported by the Associated Press. Concurrently, Israel escalated its offensive against the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon, targeting both commercial and residential districts in Beirut, resulting in at least 182 fatalities on what became the deadliest day of violence in the area.
Vance called on Iran to preserve the fragile ceasefire agreement amidst ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He noted that Iranian President’s condition for a truce in Lebanon was essential for concluding the broader Middle East conflict and suggested that there may have been a “legitimate misunderstanding.”
Vance stated, “I believe the Iranians thought that the ceasefire encompassed Lebanon, but that was not the case. We never made such a commitment.” He made these remarks while departing Hungary, where he was supporting the reelection efforts of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
He cautioned, “If Iran decides to allow these negotiations to collapse over Lebanon, which is unrelated to them and which the United States never included in the ceasefire discussions, that is ultimately their decision.”
As tensions continued to rise, Israel maintained its offensive against Hezbollah, leading to significant casualties in Lebanon.
