Loved ones issue heartfelt appeal for woman who has been missing for a week

Authorities in Victoria are actively searching for Lisa Hirai, a 40-year-old woman who has been missing since early April. Friends and family have taken to social media to rally support in locating her.

Ms. Hirai was last seen leaving her rural home in Tahara, situated west of Hamilton, on April 3. According to her family, her sudden absence is out of character, and they are deeply worried about her safety and wellbeing.

In a heartfelt message to the ABC, her relatives expressed their anguish, highlighting her vibrant personality and the love she receives from those around her. “Lisa is a warm and loving soul, always full of life and character with a beautiful smile,” they stated. “We miss her incredibly and are desperate for any assistance in bringing her home.”

Law enforcement officials reported that Ms. Hirai left her property on foot, without her mobile phone, vehicle, or any belongings. Her family appreciates the ongoing efforts from local police, the community, and support from online platforms. “Everyone is working diligently to find her, and we are praying for her safe return,” they added.

Search efforts have included thorough ground inspections by police and State Emergency Service volunteers around her home, with the Victoria Police air wing also participating. However, a police dog squad was unable to uncover any leads regarding her whereabouts.

Authorities have expanded their search to the nearby towns of Wallacedale and Portland following recent reports of possible sightings of Ms. Hirai. She is described as standing 155 centimeters tall, with long black hair and a slender frame.

Anyone who may have information related to her disappearance is encouraged to contact the Hamilton police station at (03) 5551 9100.
