Maharashtra Launches Online Enrollment for Class 11 Starting April 10

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has officially announced that the online admission process for class 11 junior colleges in Maharashtra will commence on April 10, 2026. Starting at 10 AM on that date, students will have the opportunity to complete the first part of a two-part application form. The second part of the online application will become available following the announcement of the class 10 board examination results by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE).

This year, the class 10 board examinations, also known as the SSC exams, took place between February 20 and March 18. A total of 1,615,489 students across the state registered to participate in these exams. The student registration process was initiated earlier this year to facilitate timely admissions.

During the academic year 2025-26, the Education Department introduced an online admission system for class 11 for the first time in Maharashtra. This initiative allowed for admissions into 21,78,078 seats across 9,551 junior colleges statewide. More than 1,179,000 students successfully gained admission through this centralized process, while an additional 170,000 students were admitted through various quotas, including in-house, minority, and management categories. Due to the novelty of the online approach, registrations commenced only after the examination results were released, which resulted in delays in the overall admission timeline. Last year, more than ten rounds of admissions were conducted.

Dr. Mahesh Palekar, the Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, emphasized that a circular had been distributed during the class 10 examinations to inform students about the class 11 admission process and encourage them to prepare the necessary documents. He noted that the online form is now accessible and that students have until the class 10 results are declared to complete it. Dr. Palekar urged students to thoroughly understand the process and fill out the form accurately. He also indicated that this year’s efforts would focus on addressing the challenges encountered during the inaugural implementation of the statewide online admission process last year.
