In a brief 12-second video shared on social media just after midnight on Friday, Lucknow Super Giants’ head coach Justin Langer can be heard discussing plans with a member of his coaching staff. “In the upcoming four months, I’m determined to transform him into the most formidable No. 6-7 batsman in India,” Langer declares, directing his attention toward the promising 21-year-old Mukul Choudhary.

Mukul, a powerful batsman hailing from Rajasthan, recently made his mark in the IPL during a thrilling 182-run chase for LSG at Eden Gardens against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He announced himself with an impressive innings of 54 not out off just 27 deliveries, playing a crucial role in guiding LSG’s efforts in the final overs. This performance made him the first Indian player to score a half-century within the last five overs of an IPL match.

Growing up in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, Mukul faced challenges due to the lack of adequate cricket infrastructure in his region. His father, Dalip Kumar Choudhary, always encouraged him to pursue a career in cricket, although he struggled to find the means to support that ambition initially. Despite financial constraints and limited opportunities, Dalip remained committed to finding ways to help his son succeed.

Head coach Langer credited his team’s analyst for identifying Mukul’s potential. Although Mukul had not yet established himself in the senior circuit for Rajasthan, his impressive power and technique caught the attention of Lucknow Super Giants during the December 2025 auction, resulting in the team securing his services for Rs 2.60 crore.
