Independent Member of Parliament for Queensland, Jimmy Sullivan, has been discovered deceased in Brisbane.
Authorities reported that they responded to a location in Stafford last night, where they located the body of a man.
Officials have stated that the circumstances surrounding his death do not appear to be suspicious.
At the age of 44, Mr. Sullivan entered the Queensland parliament as the representative for Stafford in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024.
Last year, he was removed from the Labor Party caucus and had since been serving as an independent member on the crossbench.
This expulsion followed a directive from Opposition Leader Steven Miles, who had instructed Mr. Sullivan to take a leave of absence until certain “medical and legal matters” were addressed.
At that time, Mr. Miles alleged that Mr. Sullivan had not adhered to a “safe return to work plan” upon resuming his responsibilities as a parliamentarian earlier this year.
Prior to his election, Mr. Sullivan held the position of chief of staff to former Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath.
