The highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, is generating significant excitement as its release date approaches. Recently, filmmaker and producer Karan Johar had a delightful encounter with Hollywood icons Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway during their promotional tour in Tokyo. A glimpse of this engaging meeting was shared by the official Instagram account of 20th Century Studios, featuring a humorous exchange among the three.
In the video, Anne teasingly inquired of Karan, “Do you ever judge their shoes?” After a short pause, Karan flashed a smile and replied, “All the time,” which prompted laughter from Anne. Meryl added to the jovial atmosphere by complimenting Karan, stating, “But you have the perfect shoe on today,” acknowledging his stylish choice.
For this event, Karan Johar donned an eye-catching pair of black-and-white downtown leather Prada sneakers, reportedly valued at over Rs 1.25 lakh.
Earlier, Karan had expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram by sharing photos with the two actresses, revealing his admiration for Meryl Streep. He wrote, “This is not a caption. This is a confession. I am singularly obsessed and inspired by the unmatchable brilliance of Meryl Streep,” referring to her as his “guru” in acting.
Karan also shared his profound connection to the original film, admitting that he has watched it 47 times. “I have quoted it at dinner tables, in edit suites, and in board meetings (no kidding!). So when I tell you that standing next to HER and them today, I felt the ground shift, please believe me,” he noted, adding that despite his efforts to remain composed, he felt quite nervous.
He praised both actresses for their kindness, stating, “They were both so warm and welcoming. This image is going in my will.”
Fans are looking forward to the sequel, which resurrects the beloved characters of Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs nearly twenty years after the original film became a sensation. The sequel will also feature Emily Blunt returning as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci reprising his cherished role.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for a global release on May 1, promising audiences a fresh blend of high-fashion drama and nostalgia.
