On Sunday, security personnel and local police initiated an extensive search operation in response to reports regarding the presence of two individuals deemed “suspicious” in a village adjacent to the International Border in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to official sources, a caretaker at an animal farm in Pangdour observed the movement of two unidentified persons around 8:30 PM on Saturday. Prompted by this sighting, he alerted both the local police and security forces, which led to the immediate commencement of search efforts.
Although the initial search did not locate the suspects, a Special Operations Group (SOG) from the Jammu and Kashmir Police later determined that the individuals were heading toward the SIDCO forest at approximately 1:30 AM. Officials reported that the SOG confronted the suspects, who managed to evade capture by fleeing into the nearby forested area.
In response, additional reinforcements were dispatched to the location, and the forest region was secured to facilitate ongoing operations.
As of the latest updates, large-scale searches continue, with the Border Security Force (BSF) joining the efforts. Their focus has shifted to the Basantar nallah near Pangdour, and extra checkpoints have been established in Khoon village to inspect vehicles traveling along the route.
In the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam last year, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local resident, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their operations against militant activities.
