The Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) is set to launch its inaugural four-year bachelor’s degree program in Digital Science and Business Management this year, in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and various industry collaborators. This announcement was made by IIM Mumbai’s Director, Professor Manoj Tiwari, during the convocation ceremony for the institute’s first MBA graduating class on Saturday.
Professor Tiwari highlighted that the new program integrates cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, the Internet of Things, and Robotics with essential management disciplines, including operations, marketing, finance, and manufacturing. The aim is to prepare graduates who are equipped to thrive in digitally driven sectors.
The program will admit 70 students and is structured to equip them with the skills necessary for leadership roles that blend technology with business acumen. The financial investment for students will range from Rs 6-7 lakh per annum, with IIM Mumbai overseeing the business management curriculum, while IIT Bombay and industry partners will provide instruction on technological components. Professor Tiwari assured prospective students of a 100 percent placement guarantee.
Admissions will be conducted through the Joint Entrance Examinations – Main (JEE-Main), followed by a subsequent interview process. Additionally, students in the third year of this program will have the opportunity to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), which can be completed within one year immediately after finishing the bachelor’s degree.
Professor Tiwari also mentioned that the institute intends to introduce more bachelor’s degree programs in the future, contingent upon necessary infrastructure upgrades to accommodate a larger student body. Currently, IIM Mumbai has the capacity to house 1,200 students, and additional programs will be feasible once this capacity is expanded.
On the same day, a total of 505 students celebrated their graduation from IIM Mumbai, following its formal recognition by the National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering (NITIE) in 2026. Among the graduates were 300 from the General MBA program, 177 from the MBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and 28 from the MBA in Sustainability Management. Additionally, 39 students completed the first batch of the One Year Post Graduate Programme for Executives in Logistics and Operations Excellence through Digitization, along with 26 graduates from the One Year Post Graduate Programme for Executives and 6 doctoral degree recipients.
