Tragic Loss: Hubballi Student Takes Her Life Despite Achieving 78% in Karnataka II PU Exams

A commerce student in Hubballi, Shravani Maruti Kale, tragically took her own life on Friday, following her disappointment with the results of the Karnataka II Pre University (PU) examination.

The 12th-grade student achieved a score of 466 out of 600, equating to a 77.67 percent, which is classified as a first-class result. However, she had anticipated a mark exceeding 90 percent.

Reports indicate that Kale was quite optimistic about her performance and was profoundly affected when her actual results did not meet her expectations. She lived with her grandparents while her father worked as an auto driver, harboring ambitions of academic success and a promising career.

After serving lunch to her grandfather, she went to her room and did not emerge. Family members forced the door open and discovered her lifeless body.

The Vidyanagar police have registered an unnatural death report regarding this incident.

This incident marks the second suicide linked to the II PU results, which were released on Thursday. Previously, a science student named Tanushree from Bengaluru also took her life.

According to law enforcement, Tanushree had expressed worries to a friend about potentially failing before the results were announced. She lived with her mother and younger brother after the passing of her father three years ago.

The police in Bengaluru’s Hebbal area have also recorded a case of unnatural death in connection with Tanushree’s suicide.
