Trump Announces US Initiatives to Remove Mines from Strait of Hormuz During Islamabad Discussions, Declares Iran’s Naval and Air Forces Defunct

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump utilized his Truth Social platform to comment on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the ceasefire discussions, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This comes as U.S. and Iranian representatives commenced significant ceasefire negotiations in Islamabad, following a fragile 14-day truce. Trump declared that “Iran is losing, and losing big.”

In his remarks, Trump criticized media reports regarding the ceasefire, asserting, “The Fake News Media has lost total credibility, not that they had any to begin with. Due to their overwhelming Trump Derangement Syndrome (often called TDS!), they enjoy claiming that Iran is ‘winning’ when, in reality, it is clear that they are LOSING, and LOSING BIG!”

He elaborated on Iran’s military status, stating that their navy and air force have been significantly diminished, their anti-aircraft capabilities are virtually nonexistent, and their missile and drone manufacturing facilities have suffered extensive destruction. “Most importantly, their longstanding ‘leaders’ are no longer with us, praise be to Allah!” he added.

Earlier, Trump indicated that numerous empties oil tankers were en route to the United States to load oil and gas. He remarked, “Massive numbers of completely empty oil tankers, some of the largest in the world, are currently heading to the United States to load the best and ‘sweetest’ oil and gas available. We have more oil than the next two largest oil producers combined – and of higher quality.”

He announced that the U.S. has initiated efforts to clear the Strait of Hormuz, describing this as support for various nations reliant on this critical shipping route. Trump noted that Iran’s only remaining leverage stems from sea mines that pose a threat to maritime commerce.

These comments followed his ceasefire declaration earlier in the week, where he agreed to halt assaults on Iran for a two-week period at the request of Pakistani officials, contingent on Iran’s agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He referred to this as a “double-sided CEASEFIRE,” asserting that U.S. military objectives had been achieved.

Trump stated that both parties had reached consensus on many aspects of a long-term agreement, with an Iranian proposal serving as a foundation for further discussions. He mentioned that this pause would facilitate the finalization of the agreement.

In another post, he remarked, “A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen,” and indicated that the U.S. would assist in managing traffic in the Strait as Iran embarks on reconstruction efforts.

Throughout the week, Trump’s posts have oscillated between threats of military action, claims of battlefield victories, and updates on the ongoing negotiations between U.S. and Iranian officials in Islamabad.
