The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the timetable for the 2026 recruitment examination for Constable (GD) positions. According to the recent announcement, the tests for Constable (GD) within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, as well as Rifleman (GD) in the Assam Rifles, are scheduled to take place from April 27, 2026, through the end of May 2026, at various locations across the country.
In an effort to improve the experience for candidates, the SSC has implemented a new feature allowing applicants to indicate their preferred weeks for the exam. Candidates can select their preferred examination window according to their availability by logging into their accounts on the official SSC website and submitting their preferences for the four designated weeks.
The examination will be structured into four separate weekly sessions to accommodate the expected large number of participants:
- Week 1: April 27 to May 2, 2026
- Week 2: May 4 to May 9, 2026
- Week 3: May 18 to May 23, 2026
- Week 4: May 25 to May 30, 2026
The period for candidates to submit their preferences for examination weeks opened at 3 PM on April 11, 2026, and will close at 5 PM on April 15. It is crucial for candidates to complete this process within the specified timeframe since failure to do so may result in the Commission assigning examination dates automatically, without taking individual preferences into account.
Candidates are also encouraged to frequently check the official SSC website for the most current information, including updates on admit cards, examination locations, and any further instructions.
