In an effort to enhance environmental sustainability, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) announced on Monday a range of tax reductions for properties that adopt eco-friendly practices. This initiative, led by the Taxation and Tax Collection Department, aims to motivate residents to embrace a lifestyle that prioritizes environmental care, according to municipal officials.

Buildings that effectively implement waste management strategies, sewage treatment solutions, and adhere to the “Zero Waste” philosophy will be eligible for direct tax rebates. This financial incentive is designed to alleviate the burden on residents while they actively contribute to the protection of the environment.

The initiative is anticipated to inspire both residential complexes and commercial properties to enhance their waste management efforts and emphasize the recycling of wastewater, as stated by the civic authorities.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar emphasized the goal of the discounts, stating, “The main aim of these incentives is to encourage buildings to adopt eco-friendly practices. If residents engage in on-site composting and install sewage treatment plants (STPs) while adhering to the Zero Waste concept, it will significantly bolster the city’s waste management framework.”

Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi remarked, “PCMC is dedicated to transforming Pimpri Chinchwad into a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable urban area. By offering these tax benefits, we hope to motivate residents to construct eco-friendly facilities, thus reinforcing our vision of a ‘Green City.’”
