In light of potential changes within the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet and the BJP’s organizational structure ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde conducted a series of meetings with prominent party leaders in Lucknow on Sunday.
Tawde engaged with a range of officials, including state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, various Cabinet ministers, and key party figures. He also held discussions with senior female leaders from both the organization and the government. With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath currently campaigning in West Bengal, Tawde is expected to meet with him on Monday.
Later in the evening, Chaudhary traveled to Delhi for a discussion with senior party leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Sources indicate that the party’s top brass are in active discussions and gathering feedback to prepare for the Assembly elections.
Party officials noted that as the elections approach, a crucial task is to finalize the appointments of appropriate party members as chairpersons and board members for various corporations that have remained vacant for some time.
Following his initial meetings with Tawde at the BJP headquarters in Lucknow, Pankaj Chaudhary shared on X, “Today, we warmly welcomed Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde ji at the BJP State office in Lucknow. We had productive discussions about several current issues and ways to strengthen the organization.”
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who arrived earlier to meet Tawde, commented, “This is not a new or sudden occurrence. The organizational process is continuous as we follow our party leadership’s guidance. Importantly, the pro-poor initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have significantly impacted the people, and the law and order situation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been positively received. With the elections approaching, the BJP is poised to secure a full majority again, similar to the historic win in 2017.”
It is noteworthy that since Pankaj Chaudhary assumed the role of state BJP chief, the party has yet to announce his team, which will include vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries, and heads of regional teams. Sources suggest that Tawde’s visit may provide the final approval for these appointments.
