The Joint Committee of Parliament, tasked with reviewing the One Nation One Election Bills concerning simultaneous elections, is anticipated to accelerate its activities in the upcoming months. Led by BJP Lok Sabha member P P Chaudhary, the committee plans to visit Gujarat and Karnataka shortly to engage with state governments and various stakeholders regarding the implications of holding elections concurrently. Reports suggest that the committee aims to visit as many states as possible before finalizing its recommendations.
In a move perceived as a demonstration of political strength with broader national implications, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside other central leaders and Chief Ministers from 20 BJP-governed states, is expected to attend the inauguration of the new government in West Bengal this Saturday. Prior to this event, sources indicate that senior BJP officials will participate in the expansion of Samrat Choudhary’s cabinet in Patna on Thursday. Choudhary, who became Bihar’s first BJP Chief Minister, took his oath during a low-key ceremony on April 15.
The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued a directive to senior commanders across various formations, emphasizing the importance of preventing the posting or sharing of any written or visual material that criticizes government orders. He has instructed that such content should be removed immediately and that disciplinary measures will be pursued against officers who persist in posting such materials. Senior officials have been tasked with ensuring thorough compliance with these instructions.
