The competition in this prestigious category was fierce, featuring a lineup of notable Bollywood films released in 2025, including Dhurandhar, Chhaava, Dhadak 2, Haq, Saiyaara, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Superboys of Malegaon. During the awards ceremony, the creative team behind Homebound, including director Neeraj Ghaywan, producers Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla, along with lead actors Vishal Jethwa and Ishaan Khatter, were present to accept the accolade. The award presentation was carried out by Nita Ambani alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.<\/p>\n
The event was hosted by renowned Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, along with comedians Zakir Khan and Sunil Grover, and distinguished journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, who serves as the Editor for Hindi at The Indian Express.<\/p>\n
The Chetak Screen Awards, regarded as one of India\u2019s most esteemed film accolades, were established by The Indian Express Group with the aim of honoring artistic excellence based on merit, integrity, and the respect of peers. The nominees and winners for the 2026 awards were chosen by the SCREEN Academy, an independent non-profit organization composed of 53 revered filmmakers and cultural figures, which significantly enhances the awards\u2019 credibility.<\/p>\n
Initially, films were shortlisted and then meticulously assessed through a structured voting process by the Screen Academy. Dr. Priya Jaikumar, who is the Chair of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts and serves as a scholar-in-residence at the Screen Academy, formulated comprehensive grading criteria for members to adhere to during evaluations.<\/p>\n
Members of the Screen Academy include prominent figures such as Shoojit Sircar, Deepa Mehta, Sriram Raghavan, Ram Madhvani, Guneet Monga Kapoor, John Abraham, Kabir Khan, Karan Johar, Mukesh Chhabra, Payal Kapadia, Prosenjit Chatterjee, RS Prasanna, Rajiv Menon, Rajkumar Hirani, Resul Pookutty, Rima Das, and Vidya Balan, among others.<\/p>\n
